Yellow Card Training Courses.
It’s important to tailor scissor lift training (and boom and vertical lift training) to suit the environment the operators will be working in and to vary the training to suit. The EWPA Yellow Card Sydney scissor lift course structure allows this to happen.
M5 Tunnel EWPA Yellow Card Training.
Recently we had 10 EWPA Yellow Card trainees who are all working in the M5 tunnel.
This is not an easy environment to work, underground and working side by side with other plant such as multiple scissor lifts, vertical and boom lifts, mini cranes, forklifts, etc.
To help prepare the guys, and for a bit of fun, we put the guys in 5 scissor lifts to operate simultaneously and in close quarters as part of the practical scissor lift training.
One of the advantages of working out of Australian Boom and Scissors Access Hire yard is the access to multiple machines, it also means EWP training courses are completed faster than other training organisations that only have access to a single EWP.
The boys started with laps around cones after which the lead scissor lift was instructed to do a figure 8 with the others to follow. Tricky at first, but I’m happy to report no collisions and the boys quickly got into the rhythm of giving way and varying the speed of the scissor lifts to allow for a safe scissor lift training exercise.

About Training for Higher
Training For Higher has been preparing trainees to operate EWP’s safely for over 7 years.
Head trainer, Phil Rutter, has been in the EWP industry for over 13 years. In that time he has worked for EWP Manufacturers, Access Hire Yards and EWP Training Companies. Phil has also previously held the position of Secretary of the Elevating Work Platforms Association NSW. To date, Phil has trained 3000+ workers across a broad range of industries. Exposure to such a broad range of EWP related industries has equipped Phil with the knowledge required to deliver a course that is both informative and entertaining. He is also noted for his patience and understanding to trainees who have English as a second language.
Training for Higher courses are held at Australian Boom and Scissors or can be conducted at the client’s site if required. Our training courses are informal and consistently receive positive feedback from participants.
We also understand that sometimes training is required urgently to get on to a site. We are therefore flexible enough to be able to take next day bookings after hours if required.
